NEW DISCOVERIES

So...we've been back from the beach over a week now (old news).....and this is the first time that I've had to update this blog. Before we headed down to Florida I was sitting in my living room and noticed a small spot on the ceiling (about the size of a half dollar). I thought...'it will be alright until I get back....' So I got back and decided to check it out. I got up in my attic....nothing. Then I got up on my roof.....

There were no holes in my roof. Just several places where it seemed that the underlayment had buckled. I began to walk around.....and quickly returned to a more sound surface. It seemed that every where I step.....I heard a crack!

As it ended up I had to replace the decking on most of my roof and re-shingle it to boot. That's what I did last week. I had help.....I wasn't at it alone. I'm glad to have it done......and so far no leaks!
We're back into the swing of things. Denise is looking forward to school being out......Carolina is too. I'm really enjoying the nice weather we're having. Until next time.....

A - DAY

Today is our anniversary! 2 years it has been!
Well today on our trip we decided to go visit the lighthouse that we saw the first morning we got into town. It was worth trip and the time to climb to the top. After 203 step up to the top....this is what we saw. Look at how small the school bus is.

This is the Port where the Halifax river empties into the ocean.

It was such a beautiful day. The weather was nice. It was a bit windy...especially up atop of the light house.

A MUCH BRIGHTER DAY

Today is a much brighter day here in Daytona. It's in the low 70's. A huge contrast to yesterday.

I have really been enjoying the ocean. I love the sounds and sights of the waves coming in. Earlier today we went to an old plantation that has been turned into a botanical garden. Dunlawton Sugar Mill Botanical Gardens
I don't think they tell you this on the web site....but during the Civil War
the Confederacy bought their sugar from this mill.

Here is Denise and her father Aaron.

SUNRISE ON THE BEACH

Around sunrise this morning we arrived in Daytona Florida. To our surprise it was a bit chilly and overcast. But the air smelled wonderful and the view......well these photos don't do it justice. We have a nice view outside of our room of the beach. The waves are coming in strong. It's supposed to nicer over the next few days. I'm looking forward to some nice R&R.
This is a photo of a light house near by. It's really huge......I tried to zoom in a close as I could. It's the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse. I hope to get to explore it. Here's a photo of one of the many sand dunes along the beach. Also......you can drive on the beach....how cool is that!
As the days go by I'll post more photos.
